I am so honored to be Guest Posting at the blog Life In Dogs today! Guilie Castillo-Oriard has been doing a magnificent series during the A-Z on Dog Rescue. It’s a comprehensive look at the world of rescue and all that goes along with it.
Today for the letter W — Who Rescues Who? — she featured my story of Bella, a runaway and rescued greyhound that I adopted back in 1999. It’s a bitter-sweet story of my life with Bella and all that I learned from her.
Please stop by Life In Dogs and give it a read. And while you’re there, be sure to check out Guilie’s other amazing posts during this A-Z Challenge. It will open your eyes…and your heart!
Thank you Guilie! I’m so incredibly honored to be a part of your stunning series.
Michele, the honor is mine… Bella’s story—and yours—is a beautiful tribute to everything rescue; it sums up everything we’ve been talking about all month, not just the practical aspects but also, maybe especially, the bittersweetness of it. What I love most about it, though, is how it illustrates so perfectly the link of love and understanding between a human and an animal. How it puts our feelings and insecurities—the human’s and the dog’s—not just on equal footing but in a position to heal each other. It’s a gorgeous story, and I can’t thank you enough for choosing to share it at the dog blog 🙂

It was just such a great read about love for a dog. I couldn’t help myself – they are such wonderful creatures and leave us far too soon.

I know. It’s so heartbreaking to lose them but I believe that’s the price we have to pay for loving them and receiving all that unconditional love. Although it’s devastating, I’ll keep paying the price…
