Notable Quotables – Worry

If you are afraid of your future, you don’t have a present.                                         ~ James Petersen

This is so true! I have profound experience in dealing with this within my own family. My mom is a chronic worrier. She always has been. She worries about the What Ifs all the time…most of which never come to pass. All that time wasted in worry. It not only affects her peace of mind, it affects her health. I preach to her all the time, to not worry about things that haven’t happened yet.

And now, I am reminded of this sermon myself. I have spent a great deal of time recently worrying about something that is a very remote possibility, to the point that it interferes with my ability to appreciate the beauty of each and every day. This is craziness. So for that reason, I post this quote for me.

And for anyone else who suffers from unfounded fears.

Do you find yourself so worried about your future that you aren’t living in the here and now? If so, let’s make a deal to change that, starting right now. Live today, fully and freely. And always remember, if you are afraid of your future, you don’t have a present!

S is for Soul Purpose

This Journey is Yours Alone

We all have a destiny. We all are in this life working to fulfill our soul’s purpose. Perhaps we’re just getting started. Perhaps we failed –or didn’t quite make it—in our previous lives. If we listen closely and pay attention, our soul’s purpose will be revealed to us. We will feel a calling, a tug that pulls us in a direction that might seem to be veering us off a current course or path. When we resist, the tug is strong and persistent. That’s when we have to heed the call and start following the direction in which our soul is pulling us.

It is with deep certainty that I believe my soul’s purpose and my calling is to be an animal chaplain. I am choosing to devote my life to the animals and the people who love them because of how I feel when I experience this:

I have looked into the eyes of many animals

So what is your soul’s purpose? How have you come to know it?
