Yay, it’s Monday! Normally I hate Mondays but not lately because Mondays mean music! It’s Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop and today’s honorary co-host is Stacy from Stacy Uncorked. Her theme for this week is “Unlikely Duets“. I thought I’d have a little fun with this one so here are some unlikely duets that you should enjoy.
Johnny Cash and Miss Piggy sing “Jackson”
Rita Moreno & Animal do “Fever” — this one is adorable:
The Goo Goo Dolls & Elmo sing “Pride”
Elton John and Miss Piggy sing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”
Debbie Harry (lead singer of Blondie) and Kermit the Frog sing “Rainbow Connection”
There is also a duet of Miss Piggy and Ozzy Osborne doing “Born to Be Wild” but I couldn’t find a decent video of it.
Since that video quality sucked, I didn’t want to deny you Black Sabbath fans so here’s Beaker and the Muppets rock band doing War Pigs:

Oh my gosh, Debbie Harry & Kermit was the bomb! Totally loved it. What a great idea to bring out good ol’ sesame street. They had sooooooooo many great people on there to join in on the fun. Thanks for sharing my friend! I had too much fun with this one & listened to all. ~hehehe~

Fun Fun Fun!
Lots of great Muppet duets. My favorite is Alice Cooper’s Welcome to my Nightmare.
I thought of another one about half an hour ago for my post, but since I’ve already posted I’m just going to store it away until later. You never know when it may be needed again.
I see you’re doing January themes. Those look promising and FUN! I need to get myself together and come up with some themes for another round myself.
Still recovering from that crazy month of October, but hopefully i’ll be back on track soon.

Oh my goodness! I just love that you chose a theme-within-a-theme! I forgot all about the Muppets collaborating with their musical guests, and never even knew that one of my favorites, the Goo Goo Dolls, had been on there.

Johnny Cash had a knack for making every song he sang sound like it was written just for him or even by him. I always liked the song “Jackson” as sung by Nancy & Lee. Johnny was doing just fine before Piggy chimed in. It was also a hoot to see Piggy doing a duet with Ozzy. I have it on good authority that Piggy slept her way to the top. 🙂
Ha! Whenever I see Rita Moreno I am reminded of my most harrowing experience as a television news producer. One weekend in 1985 I was producing the 6 o’clock newscast and encountered every producer’s worst nightmare – the dreaded sports “run-over.” A live basketball game on the network went into OT and started cutting into the half hour allotted for my newscast. I needed to start re-timing the show on the fly, cutting down the length of the news blocks, the sports segment and the weather block in an effort to preserve the fully-sold commercial breaks. To top it off, the newscast had a live remote segment scheduled in which our anchor interviewed Sally Struthers and Rita Moreno, the stars of the Broadway play The Female Odd Couple. The last thing I wanted to do was drop that segment because I’d never heard the end of it. However, basketball ran over something like 14 minutes, leaving me only 16 minutes of time to squeeze in news, sports, weather and the live interview from a local theater venue. If the basketball game had run just one minute longer, the network would have automatically “filled” to the bottom of the hour and the network’s nightly newscast would have begun, preempting our newscast. I would have been off the hook. But NO – I needed to severely “accordion” the show while barking instructions and time cues to the anchor through the IFB. It fried my brain. I ended up cutting the Struthers – Moreno segment down to only a little over a minute instead of the 3 minutes originally planned. It was the most difficult, nerve wracking newscast of my career!
Debbie Harry meets Kermit the Frog is certainly an unusual pairing. I have Debbie coming up in my next post at Shady’s Place. That cover of “War Pigs” is the greatest thing since Pat Boone found himself “In a Metal Mood.” 🙂 That medley of 80s hits at the end was great. They even copied the pencil-sketch animation used in A-ha’s iconic “Take On Me” music video!

I love it! This brings back great memories watching this with my dad…thismwas one of his favourite shows. My lumberman dad whom you never would have thought he would go for this show but he loved it. Who doesn’t love Animal with Rita Moreno.

Many apologies for the late boogie but I’m finally here!! *clap hands* I knew you’d pull out all the stops and you didn’t disappoint me, either. I love your spin on the unlikely duets! My favorite is Rita & Animal. That just cracked me up big time this morning! I love Animal!! DH played drums during our dating years, so I have my own Animal. 🙂 He actually does a pretty good Animal Imitation. He also can sing “Rainbow Connection” like Kermit. Yeah, he’s a multi-talented fellow I tell you. 🙂 Anyhow all of these are furtastic selections chockfull of great fun. Thanks for sharing and putting some smiles on my face this morning.
