I’m finally coming in with my Battle of the Bands RESULTS post. Sorry for the delay but my Mom had surgery today and it’s been a bit crazy getting everything ready and taken care of beforehand — like getting her taxes done yesterday, which was a long grueling process, and just all the rest. You know. Anyway, I just bounced in to tally up the votes. Our battle was between the Hollywood Vampires and Low Cut Connie as to who did the best cover version of Harry Nilsson’s “Jump Into the Fire.”
Before the winner is crowned I’ll share with you my vote:
I thought this was a tough battle because both bands brought their A-games to this one. The Hollywood Vampires version is great and I love how they incorporate into the song two of Harry Nilsson’s other hit songs, “One” at the beginning and “Coconut” at the end. This all-star supergroup no doubt has some powerful musicianship.
However, as much as I liked the Hollywood Vamps version, I was bowled over by Low Cut Connie’s energy and the band’s synergy that come together to crank out some kickass music. Frontman Adam Weiner rocks the piano…and I love me some decent piano-playing. I also enjoyed watching their video as it’s obvious that this group of guys really enjoy what they’re doing and they have fun performing.
So my vote for “Jump Into the Fire” goes to Low Cut Connie.
Now, how did everyone else vote? Well, it was a nail-biter battle for sure. It’s pretty evenly split. In fact, had I voted for Hollywood Vampires, this battle would be ending in a tie. But since my vote landed with Low Cut Connie, the tally shakes out like this:
LOW CUT CONNIE – 7 votes
HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES – 5 votes
Thanks everybody, for playing along. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. I’ll close out this Results post with another great music video of Low Cut Connie doing their song “Boozophilia”, which you know if you read my battle blurb on the band, was on Obama’s 2015 summer Spotify playlist. Give this a watch and you’ll see why I like these guys so much. So much in fact that I’ll be doing an “Artist Spotlight” on the group in one of my upcoming Monday’s Music Moves Me posts. Stay tuned.
So, what did you think of this Low Cut Connie music video?
Hey, I’ll be back next month on the 15th with my next Battle of the Bands. Until then, shake it up and rock on…
Hi, Michele!
I hope your mom is doing AOK following her procedure and that your dear pet Picasso is also doing better.
I was on the losing team in this close battle of yours. It was lots of fun and you selected two great bands and two competitive versions of “Jump” for the contest. I also enjoyed the victory lap video by LCC. The members of the band look like they have a blast performing together. Their clowning and sight gags bring to mind the music videos of Huey Lewis And The News.
Let your mother know that I’m thinking about her and hoping she’s on the mend. Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Michele!

MICHELE, I hope your Mom is doing well! You have certainly had a full plate. Mine has been pretty full lately, too, but tomorrow should be a Do-Nuttin’ Day for me.
Great Battle! Gotta love an outcome THAT close, eh?
It seemed like The Hollyweird Vampires jumped out to a quick lead and I thought they’d win for sure. If I recall correctly, I think I may have been the first person to vote for LOW CUT CONNIE. But they sure came on strong after I broke the ice (if in fact it was I who done had broke it).
How could an 80-proof guy like me possibly not like a song titled ‘BOOZOPHILIA’ and which mentions the stomping grounds of Bad, Bad Leroy Brown?
The video, however… uhm… a bit too much machismo for me; a little too heavy on the Testosterone. [;^ )

Hope things are going okay that you can at least take a rest.
That was a close contest, but I said with my vote that they were fairly evenly matched. I voted with the minority, but it’s not my first time in doing that.

Michele,
Life with all its madness. Where would we be without? Not in a straightjacket for sure as thats where I belong right now. Trying coordinate a vehicle rental, hotel accommodations, stress from father-in-law’s passing, and a whole of stuff up in the air that I’m one step away from the Looney Bin. 🤪 Putting all that aside, my band pick didn’t win. Hope your mom is doing well & has a quick recovery. I’ll see ya sometime nexr week to the on the dance floor, my friend. Have a good weekend!

Well, my hollywood weirdos didn’t win. And I voted for a losing artist in Stephen’s battle (not that I think she is a loser – because I honestly don’t believe she is) Some days we pick em well, and others.. not so great.
Hope all is going well with your Mother and that you’re able to get caught up and take a brief rest before your own surgery next week. I have completely lost track of time. When you mentioned the surgeries to me the other day, I thought to myself – well, that’s not until next month. Guess I should have consulted a calendar! You know how it is… the cute one keeps me distracted.
So I thought I might be skipping the theme on Monday. I’ve already done 3 of that theme in the past year. But Guess what – I had an evil thought come to me in the early morning hours and I have a post written and scheduled for Monday. Can’t wait to see the reactions. bwahahah.. Okay, it’s not nearly as evil as it sounds, but it’s truly a Departure and most likely not what they had in mind. Not my fault some of these folks can’t think outside the box!
I’m working on my April Fool’s Battle now. Will there be a Tiny Tim sighting? Perhaps Weird Al? hmmm time will only tell! (Hopefully I’ll get it written before the cute one shows up this evening – still need to shower and change and finish doing my dishes before he gets here or I’ll never hear the end of it)
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
