Battle of the Bands RESULTS: Sweet Home Alabama vs. Southern Man

battle-of-the-bands-botb-top-photo

It’s Results Time for my most recent battle, pitting Lynryd Skynryd’s Sweet Home Alabama against Neil Young’s Southern Man.

I suspected going in that this really was a No Contest battle and the results went on to prove that true. I assumed that Sweet Home Alabama was going to reign supreme in this contest and that they did! However, I was surprised that the battle didn’t end in a Shut Out. Neil Young did end up getting a few votes and I was very pleased about that, especially because I think his performance of his song was fantastic.

The final tally:

Lynyrd Skynryd’s Sweet Home Alabama:  11 votes (including my own)

Neil Young’s Southern Man:  3 votes

This was a fun battle to put together and I’m very grateful to Stephen McCarthy for passing his great idea onto me. Thanks Stephen!

On another note: I will be missing the next two battles as I’m taking some time off. I’ll be back for the March 15th battle.

To close us out, I’ll leave you with my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song, Gimme Back My Bullets:

As always, thanks for your participation. See you all soon!

    • I think I’m going to do the A-Z…if I can get my posts done beforehand. I’m almost half finished but time is running out fast!
I should be able to though. Are you doing a theme this year?

      • Yes, and I have all the letters mapped out already. I’m combining my two loves, music and scrapbooking. Lots of commotion regarding the list/no list. It will be interesting to see what happens. I definitely am not a fan of spammers or porn and would hope that we can keep those out.

  1. Hi, Michele!

Your ears matched mine the previous two rounds but apparently not this time. That’s AOK because these were two great live performances and I enjoyed listening and learning. I remember you telling me that you were headed east and I wish you a safe journey and a pleasant stay with your mother.

Take care, dear friend Michele, and know that you are in my thoughts!

    • I thought you voted for Sweet Home Alabama, didn’t you? So did I. I’ll have to go back and look but I thought for sure you voted for Skynyrd.

I’m going to take a break for a few weeks so don’t worry if I miss a few of your posts. Will be back online mid-March.

Thanks for coming by today Shady! Enjoy the rest of your week…

  2. Oh, so sorry, dearie, I misunderstood + I didn’t read carefully enough. In that case, you and I have matched the last three times in a row!

I know the change of scene will be refreshing for you and you will be happy to be back with your mother. I hope you find her well and in good spirits.

I will miss you, dear friend Michele!

    • Yes, a change of scenery will definitely be good for me. And I sure hope it’s colder up there! It was a disgusting 84 degrees again today… Boo Hiss!

  3. I liked your Battle, MICHELE, and as I said before, I think making it live recording versus live recording added an interesting element to it.

Sorry to hear you’ll miss the next Battle as I have something really very unique cooked up for BOTB, but I understand your situation and empathize. And I’ll pray about that situation.

Take care and see you when you’re able to return.

    • Thanks Stephen! I appreciate it. I’m so glad you liked the battle. I hope I did you proud. 😉

I’ll try to stop over for your Feb 15 battle, I really will!

  4. Hope Neil Young will remember that Lynyrd Skynyrd put him down anyhow! Young is one of my favorite artists, but with this pairing I had to go with my Southern boys.

Hate to see you miss the next couple Battles. The Battle postings are getting more scarce each round. Think we’re going to have to recruit some more participants again.

    Have a fruitful break.

    • Yeah, LEE, it looks to me like BOTB is finally dying out. Several people are having serious family issues to deal with, others have decided to focus more on things outside of blogging, and others appear to have simply lost interest.

Well, I started the thing, so it’s up to YOU to save it. [:o)

      • Yeah, right, pass the buck to me. It might be my fault that some of BOTB participants have been leaving–you know, my controversial posts and all the pro-Trump stuff. Better not put me in charge of any revival since I’m clearly lacking the credence for that.

        • Well, if that’s the case, then so be it.
You already know my attitude about such things. I was posting controversial stuffs before it was cool. Ha! [:o)

BOTB will at least last up to February 15th, and that’s good enough for me. After I post this next one, I will have a sense of fulfilled satisfaction about BOTB. I don’t think I could top this next Battle no matter how much longer BOTB continued.

Yeah I noticed that the participants are getting fewer. Maybe everyone just needs a break?

Glad you liked the battle and that your choice won.

      • No reservations from me. I’m going to keep posting my Battles even if I’m the only one since I’ve got a couple hundred lined up. And I think at least a few of us will continue on no matter what. BOTB is one of the few fun blogging things I have left.

  5. Michele,
I came by to vote (hoping you were running late with the tally). Alas, doggone it, I missed it. I really like both of those songs. I’m kinda glad you saved me from choosing between them!
