Twisted Christmas Battle RESULTS

Time for the results for my Twisted Christmas Battle, Jeff Foxworthy vs Cheech & Chong. I’m glad that so many of you got some good laughs from these contenders.

I have to say that I was surprised that more people weren’t into the Cheech & Chong skit. I think those guys are hilarious. Like Stephen says, and this is so true, sometimes it’s not what they say but how they say it.

Chong cracks me up:

“Yeah, I played with those dudes, man. Last year at the Filmore…”

***

(Cheech: “You don’t know who Santa Claus is!”)

“Well I’m not from here. Like I’m from Pittsburg, man. I don’t know many local dudes.”

***

(Cheech: “Now he’s got a job in front of the department store, ringing this bell and playing the tambourine next to this black pot.”

“Oh yeah I seen the dude, man! Yeah man, I played with that cat last year…”

(Cheech: “Wait a minute, man! Santa Claus is not a musician!”)

“I’m hip, man. That cat didn’t know any tunes…”

***

hahahaha! OMG, that cracks me up!

Cheech & Chong were real big when I was in high school. I remember going to see their movie Up In Smoke back in ’78 and the audience roaring. Of course we were all pretty buzzed up and everything was funny…

Re: this battle though, most of you found Jeff Foxworthy’s Redneck 12 Days of Christmas to be more funny. I love the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy) and laugh just as hard every time I see it. I love Foxworthy’s Redneck jokes and they always crack me up too but overall my vote went to Cheech & Chong.

Final tally:

Jeff Foxworthy:  9 votes

Cheech & Chong: 6 votes

To close, I’m leaving you with a scene from the hilarious film Up in Smoke. Maybe you have to be an old stoner to really appreciate it, but hope you like it. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

  1. Hi, Michele!

I enjoyed C & C back in the day but I am in a different place now and the Foxworthy style of humor resonates more. I enjoyed this unique “band battle” and look forward to your first battle of 2017.

Thanks, dear friend, and merry Christmas to you and your bow-wows!

  2. Well, I do like Cheech and Chong and appreciate their brand of humor though in this particular case not as much as Foxworthy. I can relate well to the stoner humor and their skits and movies bring back some fun memories. I’ve even got a copy of Cheech and Chong’s Big Bambu somewhere in my LP collection I believe. Though I will admit to being more of a Firesign Theater guy as they seemed more surreal and intellectual. But it was all good fun.

    Nice close Battle!

  3. Ahh, MICHELE, this was such a fun Battle, and I’m glad it turned out so close. I was dismayed when I found it was a shutout until I showed up to open the gate for the Cheech Y Chong voters. I guess I made it respectable for people to vote for CYC. (First time I ever made ANYTHING seem respectable. Ha!)

I haven’t seen UP IN SMOKE in a godzillion years, and that scene you posted had me laughing all through it. Didn’t remember a thing about it. Cheech has everything from Santana to El Chicano — Ha!-Ha! That’s an expansive taste in music, ain’t it? :o)

I once BOTB’d the song ‘LOW RIDER’ and I posted a video of the opening scene from that movie, where Cheech was polishing his Chevy Impala. Just THAT ALONE makes me laugh. Well, I’m an Angeleno by birth and the Mexican Cadillac (i.e., Chevy Impala) is the city’s official car. Ha!

I still own the album ‘LOS COCHINOS’, my favorite by CYC. There are skits on that record that my Brother and I could never ever get tired of. ‘Pedro And Man At The Drive-Inn’ has to be my favorite though.

I think if I put together a list of my Top 10 favorite BOTB installments of 2016, you’d make the list at least TWICE, once for ‘Stairway To Heaven’ and again for THIS ONE. I loved this fun Battle! My favorite of the Christmas ones this year! Well you saw how often I commented, and I even had to direct my Brother to it because I knew he’d dig it too.

MICHELE, you have a nice Christmas and New Year’s holiday. Remember all the good, golden times in the past, and never forget that they’re coming around again, and even better’n before! …”And tell ’em you heard it here first on Roller Derby!”

I’ll see ya in 2017 for more great Battles and Comment Section Fun!

    • Aw thanks Stephen! Wow, to make your Best of Battles list not once but twice is quite the honor! Thank you!
We did have fun with this one, didn’t we? Cheech & Chong bring back so many crazy memories and I for one love living in the past. 🙂
It was a pleasant surprise to get a visit from Al. I had no idea he was your brother! How cool. Yeah, he’s got the all the dirt on you, huh? But I bet he’d never spill… 🙂

Glad you watched and enjoyed the video clip I posted from Up In Smoke. I think that was my favorite scene. “Hey, am I driving okay?” — yep, have said that line before, for real. Ha!

Merry Christmas to you Stephen. Tell Al I send my holiday wishes to him as well…
Have a blast this season. You’ve worked hard all year and you deserve to kick it up! Be safe. See you next year!
