Battle of the Bands RESULTS – She’s Not There

battle-of-the-bands-botb-top-photo

Today is the Results post from my most recent battle featuring The Zombies’ “She’s Not There” against Santana’s cover. I’m going to keep this short today because I touched a super hot burner on the stove last night and severely burned three fingers on my left hand — and I’m left-handed, naturally — so it’s making it hard to type.

The really cool thing about this battle is that our own Stephen McCarthy did the same battle two years ago! His battle ended in a tie. Mine did not. The votes that came in for my battle favored the Zombies, yielding them 12 of the 19 votes (Zombies 12, Santana 7).

I definitely liked the Santana cover and their percussion just added so nicely to the song, but my vote went to the Zombies. I like this song in its purest form, done by the original artist.

In closing, here is another of my Zombies favorites, Time of the Season with some great vintage video. Enjoy!

As always, thanks for participating in my battle. See you on September 1st for the next round!

  1. Hi, Michele!

Good golly, Miss Molly! I’m sorry to find out that you burned yourself. I hope you received the proper treatment and are going to be okay. I’m left handed, too. How’s that for another coincidence?

I’m happy to learn that the Zombies original won the battle and that your ears matched mine. I also enjoyed the nostalgic “Time of the Season” upload. “Tell Her No” is another great hit by the Zombies.

Please take good care of yourself and have a wonderful week, dear friend Michele!

    • thanks Mary. I did good treating my burns. They turned white and looked like they were going to blister and they may have, but I think because I had them wrapped with gauze and tape, they may have blistered up and then the water reabsorbed because after two days of keeping them wrapped, I took off the tape and they were just fine for the most part. Red, but fine.

So glad you liked the Time of the Season video. Wasn’t that some fun fashion?!

    • Thanks Pamela. I didn’t have any aloe but sure wished I would’ve. I had burns in the past and used aloe vera right from the plant and it worked tremendously…and amazingly! I wrapped my fingers and stayed off the computer for 2 or 3 days, but I’m back in business now. Thanks!

  3. Yay Zombies! Their Odyssey and Oracle album which yielded “Time of the Season” is one of my all time favorite albums. Such a classic!

Great do over battle. Your outcome was as it should have been. Not that the Santana version was bad or anything, but the Zombies version was just better.

Well, MICHELE, you know what they say about great minds…

Yours, actually, wasn’t really EXACTLY like mine because the Santana cover I used was the one that came from their great ‘MOONFLOWER’ album which featured Greg Walker (utterly fantastic, soulful voice) on the vocals, and the guitar work by Santana was more concise — less of a “live jam” feel to it.

So, maybe there are multiple reasons why we both got different results when trying this same ‘She’s Not There’ artist match-up. But then there will always be a mysterious component to BOTB, I believe.

See ya on 9/1, my friend.

    • Hey Stephen, Yeah, it definitely wasn’t the same exact battle, but it was just cool to be doing the same song with the same artists in a battle 2 years later…

There is definitely a mysterious component to BOTB, you are right there…

talk soon. I still have company but will get back with you soon…
