Battle of the Bands RESULTS: These Boots are Made for Walkin’ #BOTB

It’s Results Day for the most recent Battle of the Bands. My battle featured Nancy Sinatra’s classic sassy song These Boots are Made for Walkin’, with battle contenders Nicki Gillis and former Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell.

It looked like Geri Halliwell was going to run away with this contest as the first six votes that came in went to her. Then Nicki Gillis started to catch up and actually, except for two additional votes for Geri, all the rest went to Nicki. And now I have another tie on my hands! So my vote will be the tie-breaker. How exciting. I love when this happens!

Before we get to my vote however, I have to say that the video I posted of Nicki Gillis didn’t work in a few countries so those bloggers found Nicki performing a live version of the song on YouTube. To those bloggers, Thanks for going the extra mile to find that video and I’m sorry the studio version that I posted didn’t work.

As for my vote: I liked Geri Halliwell just fine and especially liked her giggle at the end of the song, but Nicki Gillis’ rich voice won me over. I liked her strumming and instrumentation better. This song calls for attitude and Nicki definitely gave it. So my vote goes to Nicki Gillis for the win.

Final Tally:

Geri Halliwell:  8 votes

Nicki Gillis:   9 votes

As always, thanks for participating in my battle. See you on July 15th for my next battle, which will feature another classic oldie!

  1. Hi, Michele!

I can hardly believe you pulled off another tie. That’s great! My ears did not hear what yours did this time around, but there’s always next time. Congratulations on finding evenly matched contenders in so many of your battles.

Enjoy your Friday and weekend, dear friend Michele, and don’t step on anything that rattles! 🙂

  2. Great battle, Michele! 🙂 I liked Nicki, but was one who only saw the live version. I’m sure the studio recording would have been just as good. I’m taking a little blogging break, but will try and catch up with you later in the month. Have a good weekend!

      • We had a great weekend, driving up north to see The Hollywood Vampires, then touring around and visiting the Neil Young museum display. 🙂 I need a longer blogging break and will likely miss the next BOTB, but will be back by month’s end. I’ll see what you’re up to, regardless. Cheers!

  3. That’s brilliant, Michele! A tie is always the sign of a well-matched Battle (though I hate being the tie-breaker on mine, haha), and the fact that Nicki won is just perfect. Yes, Geri’s version was very, very good, but Nicki, as you said, really did bring an added element of character (maybe personality?) to it. Really cool battle, my friend!

  4. Nooooooo! My girl lost. How could you? LOL
Anyway, as an FYI I will be getting my results posted very late.
Sorry, but this was the first month I decided to participate in the IWSG as a co-host. It’s a lot of work.

    • Sorry Jeffrey. 😦

So how was it being a co-host? What all does that entail?

Hope you had time to have some fun this weekend…

      • Being a co-host is a demanding job. you have to visit a lot more blogs than you normally do. Also have to report if someone has not posted to the IWSG. But I also received the highest amount of visits to my ever. And I made a point to visit everyone back and reply to all comments. So, that was the reason I’ve been so far behind. My resutls are finally posted, and of course I just posted my new battle.
