Well this was a fun little battle. I had a hard time deciding which way to vote because I love the way the Muppets toss their hair around and the guy on the sax made me giggle…and I had to crack up seeing the band’s fans bounce around in the audience. But over the course of the last week, the Chipmunks song was stuck in my head and I kept singing “I just want a hula hoop…” —that’s probably my favorite part, where the little ‘munk Alvin wiggles his butt when he sings about wanting a hula hoop for Christmas. I grew up with the Chipmunks and they’ve always been near and dear to my heart. I remember fondly playing their Christmas album over and over. Therefore I gave my vote to the Chipmunks.
But the number of votes just couldn’t compete with those of the Muppets. The Muppets ran away with this one, bringing in 12 votes to the Chipmunks’ 5 votes. I do wonder if I would’ve posted the original Chipmunks version from 1958 if that would’ve fared better? I chose the Chipmunks version from the 2007 movie because of the energetic video, which I thought matched the energy of the Muppets video. For those who want to hear the original Chipmunks version, here it is:
I hope you all enjoyed this battle. I had fun with it.
See you in the New Year with another battle! Merry Christmas to you all and have a wonderful holiday season with friends and loved ones.
Yeah for the Muppets! I never knew the original song but my Mom and Dad knew. My mom said, at that time, she hated that song but as the years passed, she looked upon that song with more nostalgia

Hi, Michele!
I grew up with the Chipmunks and hula hoops and that’s why Alvin and his furry friends got my vote. It was a very enjoyable battle and brought back a lot of happy childhood memories.
Merry Christmas to you, your folks and your dogs, dear friend Michele!

I’m glad the Muppets won, but I like the Chipmunks, too. One year on Christmas Eve, I sang the Chipmunks’ song while we sat in a hotel’s hot tub. Other guests applauded me. It was my best concert ever, maybe because it was my only concert ever.

Though I did pick the Chipmunks, it was a rough decision for me. Had you shown the original chipmunks, I think there would have been no debate for me, it would have been chipmunks straight away.

Thanks for letting me know that Jeffrey. Next time I’ll stick with the original. I debated for awhile before choosing the 2007 version. Just goes to show that remakes are rarely as good as the original…
Merry Christmas to you!

Yep, I agree that had it been the original CHIPMUNKS recording, it would have made my vote a wee bit more difficult to cast. Remakes rarely match the originals.
Even so though, I still would have voted for THE MUPPETS because…
a Muppet
is hard to trump… et.
Merry Christmas, Michele. See ya on New Year’s Day!
