Wisdom is merely the movement from
fighting life to embracing it.
~ Rasheed Ogunlaru
Very powerful statement here! When we embrace life and all its facets, good and bad, we grow. We grow in spirit and in emotional well-being. We may not always like what life doles out to us, but as we embrace each trial that comes our way, we grow wiser. We become better people, more mature and more able to adapt to change. We evolve.
Do you find yourself embracing life or fighting it?
Fighting takes too much energy. I tend to be a fairly sedate laid back person. I prefer to roll along merrily and if I can’t avoid the bumps in the road I approach them with care.

Hi, dear Michele!
Thank you for posting these inspiring words. Disappointments, setbacks, suffering and grief are all part of the deal, and the sooner we learn to accept it the better. When I am faced with a challenge of that nature I close my eyes, take a deep breath, smile and remember the words of Winston Churchill, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” In my NLP training I learned that it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you respond, what you do about it, the action you take, that makes all the difference.
Thank you, dear friend Michele!

Wise inspiring words from Winston Churchill. Keep going… Amen!
And you’re so right: it’s not what happens to you but how you react that impacts one. Good comment Shady. Thanks

Such a powerful quote indeed and your post is a wonderful reminder. Do I embrace life or fight it? Both but I have learned along the way that it is much better and actually easier to embrace it. There are still some things I fight of course, but I work at them every day. Great, great post!

Sweet Renata, good to see you here! Happy holidays! We always have a little fight in us, don’t we? That’s part of who we are and we learn from that too. Thanks for stopping by! Merry Christmas!!! ❤

I guess I am not very wise yet…because I still seem to be fighting life!

I’ve seen you embrace life. You’ve certainly been through a lot this last year in losing Richard and yes, I can imagine that you fought it like hell, but you seem to have embraced it triumphantly. Keep the faith, sweet Paula!

I want to say I always embrace life but I do both. I get P-O’d at certain things that happen but usually, after a short meltdown of whether tears or anger, I realize one has to just roll with it. I love those words and Churchill’s words that Shady mentioned. Once we embrace life, things calm down and we benefit better as a result.

I’ve found that meltdowns are sometimes beneficial…Sometimes we have to lose it in order to gain something…
I can lose it fairly easily. I panic sometimes but then I calm down and discover that all is well.

I often say that I hate some of the things that have happened to me, but I’m not sorry they happened because they made me who I am now.

Yes, very powerful. I find myself doing both, at times. I’m a glass half empty person, but that is not as negative as it sounds. I don’t live in disappointment, and am frequently surprised by outcomes. I tend to bounce back quicker than people always looking for the positives. Just my opinion 🙂 I guess I do embrace life, whatever that is after I fight for the best possible outcomes.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

That sounds like a very healthy way to live Delorah. Being optimistic can sometimes be very disappointing, like you pointed out so I don’t think it’s bad being a glass-half-empty person at all. Thanks for sharing that.
Merry Christmas to you and may you have a wonderful holiday season. Enjoy every second of it!
