Notable Quotable: Happiness

Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it. ~ William Feather

Wow, this one will stop you in your tracks and hit you like a ton of bricks. Could it be that we already have what we’ve spent a lifetime searching for? Could it be that happiness is to be found in the simplicity of everyday life?

I know I feel most happy when I’m outside relaxing and communing with nature. It gets me in touch with my higher self and I see the world differently than when I’m wound up with the everyday craziness.

Maybe if everyone took a few minutes each day to breathe and get in touch with the here and now, they’d find themselves to be higher up on the happiness meter.

May you stop and enjoy your happiness today and always!

How does this quote affect you? Do you believe that you already have your happiness or are you still searching for it?

  1. Happiness is a state of mind, an attitude, and a choice. If someone is not happy, they’ve made that choice not to be so. To choose happiness naturally entails taking time to enjoy it.

I’ve had plenty of down times in my life, but essentially within I’ve been happy since I was born. I think we can be happy, but still have periods of sadness and depression. Our innate happiness keeps us from permanently sinking to the depths.

    • You’re very blessed to realize your happiness. A lot of people don’t. Glad to hear you are a naturally happy person. Like my Luca. If you had a tail, it’d be wagging all the time! 🙂

  2. I have happiness most of the time. Occasionally, depression attacks and brings me down for a while. I bounce back faster than I did in the past. I’m with Charles Schulz on happiness: Happiness is a warm puppy.

  3. This is an awesome quote. I believe that I already have my happiness. But there are times that I feel like I am still searching for more. Does that make sense? Thanks for making me stop and think once again. I love these posts!!

  4. This is a great post and quote. I think many people are looking for more…always more and forget what they have. They see what others “have” and then want to have that not thinking that the neighbours or friends or famous people can “have it all” and be so unhappy. I am not speaking about people who suffer from bi-polar disorder or some other medical issue that affects their thinking process, but the average person needs to get back down to basics and enjoy the simple things. I almost think that when times are too good is when people are often so unhappy.

    • “Getting back to basics and enjoying the simple things” – you said it right there! I think when times are good and people are unhappy it’s because they’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. People are so used to not being happy that when they are, they imagine that it can’t last too long so they fret about it. Just a theory…
