The results are in. I cast my vote for CCR because I like it better as a general song. If the judging were based on performance, I probably would go for Tina & Ike’s version because that’s definitely a show tune the way they do it. But if I’m basing this contest on the song itself and how it sounds to my ears, hands down I’m giving my vote to CCR. It’s just a great song to sing along to. And I love to sing along.
It looks like most people felt this way. I expected more votes for Tina and Ike but they only got a third of the votes. The ballot finished out at CCR – 13, Tina & Ike – 5. Not quite the battle that I thought it was going to be. But it was fun!

I thought the same way. If it was based on performance-hands down for Tina but love the song and when listening to it, CCR seemed better to me. I am surprised at the results though

This one went the way I would have guessed. But sometimes you can be really certain about a BOTB match-up and find that it explodes in your face with surprises.
My next one is going to feature two cover versions of a TRAFFIC original. One cover is a well known hit and the other one is mostly unknown. I’m thinking that the hit version, which everyone knows, is going to get trounced. (Now watch me proven wrong!)
In fact, initially, I was planning to use the TRAFFIC original against this unknown cover in my June 1st BOTB installment, but I got cold feet because I feared there would be a shutout… AGAINST ‘Traffic’!!!
We shall see in two weeks.
