Remembering the 9/11 Search & Rescue Dogs

As we all have likely been somber this week, remembering the tragedy of September 11, 2001, we naturally think about all of the people who lost their lives and the thousands of first responders, many of them who sacrificed their lives while helping at Ground Zero, but how many times have you thought about the Search & Rescue Dogs who served in those days and weeks following the devastating attack? These dogs performed their jobs tirelessly and are certainly heroes as well.

Ten years later, the working dog community came together to pay tribute to the over 300 Search and Rescue Dog Teams of 9/11. This moving video brought me to tears. May it summon in you an awareness of our four-legged friends and gratitude for those dogs who have served our country…and for those who continue to serve every day.
