Y is for Yawn

YWow, it’s almost the end of the A-Z Challenge and I’m exhausted! YAWN. Hopefully Yawn isn’t what most of you thought of when reading my posts this past month.

Seriously, Y-A-W-N. I am so tired and definitely in need of some sleep. I just may have to finish tomorrow with some Zzz’s…

Before you go, take a look at these cute animals yawning. See if you can look at them without yawning. Yawns are so catchy!

    • I know, isn’t that crazy? You know they have theories about yawning but science does not have any definite answers as to the cause or how & why they are so catching! Crazy phenomenon. So sad that this is the second to last post. I’ve really had a lot of fun doing this. You?

  5. OMG – those animal yawns are so CUTE!!! And yes, they made me want to yawn. They say yawning is catchy between species too, and dogs are very empathetic – so if we yawn, we should cause our dogs to yawn. I try to make my dogs yawn – it doesn’t always work, but sometimes it does. Great post – and realliy love the pictures! 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks Lynn! I have to experiment to see if I can make my dogs yawn. I have mouth-yawned with them before, as pack leader. I read years ago that the pack leader will yawn, or just “mouth yawn” and that signals to the rest of the pack that all is well. It’s a calming signal. I’ve used that before if the dogs are uneasy about something (a noise outside, a thunderstorm, etc). Very interesting to learn their various communication signals. As many years as I’ve been around dogs I still learn something new almost every day! Thanks for your comment! Glad you liked the yawning critters. Did they make you yawn? Sometimes just reading about yawning will make people yawn. I think when I have more energy I am going to do a real post on yawning and the science behind it. Fascinating stuff!
