X is for X-Ray

X

Maybe this x-ray will explain why I’m in pain all the time. And why I always have to get a pat-down at the airport!

Just a view of the screws and pins and staples in my right foot from the triple arthrodesis and ankle- fusion surgeries. Ouch!

Just a view of the screws and pins and staples in my right foot from the triple arthrodesis and ankle-fusion surgeries. Ouch!

As of 04/09/2014, all the screws were removed, or most of them were. Two of them broke so those two halves are still in there. But that won’t be the last my foot will see of screws: I found out with the hardware removal surgery that the ankle fusion did not take so I will have to have another big-ass surgery: this one will have a rod that goes through the bottom of my foot up to about midway on my tibia. I’m NOT HAPPY about this!!! Sigh.

But anyway, it is what it is…  Waaah….

  1. Wow! That looks nasty and I’m sorry you have to go through such an ordeal. 😦 I broke my right ankle in 1998 and have a plate and 5 screws holding it together. Luckily, everything is still intact and it’s never set off any alarms at the airport. Good luck with the surgery!

  2. That’s impressive, although I’m sure you’d prefer it not to have been necessary. I’m visiting as part of the A to Z Challenge. What will we all do when it’s over?

  3. Oh. My. Goddess. I had no idea. It must be dreadful to have that surgery and recovery hanging over your head. Do you know when it will be? As you know, I’m a hypnotherapist, and I ‘d love to work with you both pre-existing and play-off, if you’re interested. Hugs to you.

    • Heehee. I hate auto correct! Not sure when it’s going to be. Probably sometime in the fall. What all would you do: tell my body to heal properly, once and for all?? Sounds good to me! I’m willing to try anything at this point!

    • Hahaha! I’m tempted to say Both! But actually I’ve been laid up most of the last four years and I have one more year until HOPEFULLY I’ll be free again. I get really down sometimes but I have to keep laughing. It’s the only way I can stay sane. And this latest round of bad news has me believing that there has to be a reason that I’m laid up for so long. There has to be a significant reason! Maybe it’s that I’ll be able to complete the animal chaplain program, maybe it’s that I’ll finish my book… ??? I don’t know, but one thing I’m sure of, I’ll probably find out when it’s all over! 🙂

      • LOL. That’s the beauty of life. You just don’t know. Just trust that somehow, somewhere there is a reason. I am a very firm believer in the Universe smacking us upside the head and curtailing us sometimes literally making us be still in order for us to come to a realization or doing something that we just keep putting off, so your animal chaplain program and book may be just the stuff that needs more of your attention then what you have been giving them. ❤

  5. Holy Crap!!! :O Amazing and shocking x-ray – that looks so painful! Wow, and how awful to have to go through another huge surgery. Hope this next one takes and you heal completely and pain-free! You poor thing – I can’t believe you’ve kept such a great attitude through all of this, and you take care of dogs, too. You are such an impressive and amazing person – put your energy into whatever you can where you are. Sending you much love! ❤ And great post, too! 🙂
